I see many on her get upset at sexist remarks made by trolls who are trying to get a reaction. Do some of you not see that this is what they want and this is why the continue to return and spew filth? Or do you just see that they are insulting women so you blindly fall into their trap? Now I understand that there are those who truly believe they are better and deserve better (not equal) because they are men. But I believe the majority of the people on here are just out to get a reaction.
I have been called horrid things on here...a women hater even, simply because I am not bothered by someone trying to upset me...because I don’t give them that ammunition to come back. Is this not just as bad as trolling?
I would really like to understand this better.

Quite a few of the folk on here enjoy the battling aspect of the arguments, while others regard all questions (even those put by trolls) as just part of the game!
In fact, if you think about it, some of the things trolls bring up are just the sort of nonsense talked in the media etc, so there is some level of interest by people.
Of course they exaggerate and often attempt to twist things, but so what?
That's why we get the chance to answer ... and put our own point of view!
Personally, I find if I just regard it as entertainment and don't take the nasty stuff too seriously (or at all ...) it's a lot more fun :-)
And the oddball questions often bring out the good answers, too!
Of course, there are those here with their own agenda, but it's not hard to spot them. Which I guess is part of their purpose, lol.
It wouldn't be much use trolling for recruits to the "I blame everybody else for my crap life and sad personality that's why I wear this hood club", if you didn't advertise just a bit so other sad losers could buddy up.
But there ya go, that's life.
Cheers :-)

When confronted with a sexist remark, where there's little or no chance to comment any valid point, like this:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AmwlOxzrMdEwWRNXyOOSak4Yxgt.;_ylv=3?qid=20071104174649AA1HWGl
why don't just answer with a "+2", if you can't really resis the urges to respond? Is kind of useless try to lash the trolls back because most of them feed on the anger that offended people leave with their answers.

I only respond for the points. I know that the trolls aren't going to listen to me, but if you're going to answer a question at all, you might as well do a good job of it.

I thing that Katiana makes a good point. Most is just humor, some is just misguided. As for those who try to provoke and create anger you are correct that ignoring them is the best solution

Some may be, but some are just being funny, as long as there are no direct and personal attacks, I don't think we should make a big deal out of it, just enjoy the fun.

I think some passer-byes are oblivious to the fact that many outrageous comments are made by guys who are just trolling, so they get indignant. But most of us are just playing along out of boredom or for the benefit of others who are sensible.
I'm pretty indifferent to whether or not my reaction is causing a troll to troll more. Since I'm not the one trolling, it's not my responsibility to try to avoid provoking them. I don't stop being myself or walk on eggshells because other people will misbehave if I do. That's not my problem. I just assume it will catch up with them eventually and carry on.

It depends on the content of the question, how offensive it is to me and what particular mood I happen to be in at that moment. Sometimes I ignore them, like that inane question posted by Stale Male earlier about hitting women with doors. When violence is a subject for humor, huh? I usually ignore the rape questions - the rhetorical questions peppered with attempts to justify and rationalise the behavior. Blaming the victim - yet again. It's deja vu.
Other times I go for the jugular. It all just... depends.
*yawn*
Why do you ask?

That's why half of the respondents above this post are blocked. You do have that option.
