What can we do about it? Technology is just going to get better and better, and soon, there is going to be something that's alot worst than cheating, lying, steroids, and etc.
The best we can do is keep it the way it is, and the saying "Being a part of a major league team is a privilege." will have to do for now.
You break those privilege, then you humiliate the world of sports.

Cheating has always been a part of the game. Some people consider sign stealing to be cheating. Sign stealing in baseball was an artform, and still is. Players relay signs from second base, teams pitch out on the exact pitch that someone tries to steal.....it's always been a part of the game.
People have always done things to try and make themselves bigger and stronger. It was governments and legislators that termed different methods "cheating". If someone can't hit a home run, but they spend many hours in the weight room, and get stronger, they made themselves better......but its not considered 'cheating'. However, if they take certain suplements to make themselves better, it's considered cheating. Some supplements are fair game, others are illegal.
Ultimately, what is "cheating"?? It's not as black and white as you'd think.

Big Money for the long ball hitter, and high performance come with a price. Sports enhancement drugs are sometimes hard to detect and those who use them are usually denying the fact that they are. Some athletes who were run of the mill suddenly break into fore as super hitters. Steroids? Who knows.

cheating? refer the black sox, or all of those pitchers in the hall that threw grease balls, spit balls and countless other altered balls.
lying? refer to mickey mantle, ty cobb, reggie jackson, so on and so forth.
steroids? that's on the owners for not cracking down sooner. they all knew their players were using, but the long balls brought fans to the gates and they didn't want to loose that money.
money? why should the owners continue to make millions and millions a year because of underpaid players. i hate george steinbrenner, but i appreciate the fact that he doesn't make a dime until his team goes to the playoffs. until then it's an even break.
back in like '67, al kaline turned down a 100,000 contract from the tigers because he said it was too much..........what happened was, all the other players resented him because no one was going to make more than al, and the less money he took, the less money they'd get. denny frickin mcclane won 31 games in a season, and because of al kaline being stupid, he was stuck making less money than he deserved. fans pay to see the players, let the players keep that money, not the owners.
