I always get at least 7 hours of sleep, but most often I get 8. I don't normally wake in the middle of sleeping, nor do I have difficulty getting to sleep, but the next day I always feel like I only slept for as few hours. The issue is that I can't reach a deep enough level of sleep, so what can I do to reach that deeper level of sleep?

A pot of chamomile or rooibos tea is relaxing. Sleeping pills are temporary and over-the-counter ones contain diphenhydramine hydrochloride, which can cause grogginess. You can also get to a point where sleeping pills don't work or several are needed. Try visiting a doctor and a naturopath. If it is a recurring problem, go visit a sleeping disorder clinic.

Dont do anything that stimlates your mind before bed (talk on the phone, watch tv, eat, exercise, read) Meditation is good while trying to sleep too. Think of something relaxing (a color you like, a beach you like, etc.) Just lay down, with the lights out, and when you have a though come in your head, dont think about it, just focus on your origional thought.

Not to get too "personal", but do you snore? Many people who don't sleep well tend to snore alot & THAT prevents them from getting a restfull nights sleep. If THAT's not a problem, then maybe there's something in your Environment that's making you restless; like your matress is lumpy, or the room's too warm, or light, or noisy... This is WORTH looking into- because there are few things BETTER for ones overall health- than a good night's sleep! :)

You need to buy a mattress such as Sleep Number or Temper Pedic to have perfect spinal alignment and pressure point relief. Also try to wind down before bed.

Go to a sleep clinic. You probably have sleep apnea or are waking yourself up at night because of your own snoring.
