this is a question ive always wondered,

when upgrading a hard drive (ex. 150GB to a 300GB or more) do you have to have a fresh copy of the operating system or is there a way to keep all of your files AND programs and transfer to the new hard drive?

If you go to the new HD mfrs website, they night have a utility for transferring ALL your files from you rold HD to the new. It will probably involve changing jumpers on the old HD and the new HD, then moving them back when you're done. I know Seagate and WD both have these programs on their web sites. Best of luck!

you can use norton ghost to clone your old hard disk to your new hard disk. all files and program will be transfered to the new hard disk and you don't have to fresh install the operating system.
