No, I usually dont throw it against the wall.......I would have to clean the wall all the time then......I usually just throw it against my roommate's face to see if it is done or not!.........=)

My school of thought on this is something like "follow the directions on the packet and hope for the best"...but if there is a "range" of cooking times specified, I would tend to go for the shorter end of the range....I don't like it overcooked!

Of course, if you are talking about home-made pasta, it is a different matter....but I have never actually tried to make my own from scratch....buying it is so much easier.

P.S.: I love the word "doneness"....I might just use it from now on if I may.

I always Taste it!

IT's the Best way.
The term is "Al dente" or "To the tooth" (Translated from Italian) It SHOULD be soft but not too soft, it should have a bit of bounce back in it.

Overly soft noodles are simply OVER DONE and ruined.

Crunchy noodles are under done.

More times than not, I boil them until the water level is just above the pasta. I like my noodles to be as soft as possible.

Ther`s that word again, but I usually take a piece out and give it to my cat. If she eats it then it`s done to the proper doneness.
