Brandyn ,"system failure, insert boot disk" means that the mbr on your hard drive is corrupt or inaccessable." Disk hardware configuration problem " means that either a bad drive(31/2, cd/dvd , corrupted hard disk) , your ide or sata controllers and drivers have been corrupted or cables have come loose on a sata hard drive. First make sure your 31/2 drive and your cd/dvd drives are empty !! Second when it says insert boot disk insert your winxp cd and follow on screen prompts.( it may go all the way) Third) set cd/dvd to boot first in bios, insert your win xp disk into your cd/dvd drive and run automated repair if availlable: if not ,then load your repair utilities "press R" when that option comes on screen. After the utilities load run chkdsk.exe. fixmbr.exe and fixboot.exe and again chkdsk.exe. exit and restart. 4) If its a sata drive and the repair utilities do not recover your system then you will be best off going for a complete install and reloading your sata drivers and controllers durring the install

sounds like a hard drive failure if it gets stuck at verifying DMI files then your HDD is cactus.

try this but fingers crossed

Safe Mode Bootup
=============
Slowly tap the F8 key while the computer is powering up

Just after Verifying DMI files occurs the F8 key will point the computer to a menu where safe mode can be selected.

Note if you mistakenly tap F8 key again, it will continue through to normal boot

Scroll and select last known good configuration.

Get out your restore disks and follow the instructions. Expect to lose everything you have on your disk. Or, if you have the WindowsXP disk- insert it and power on, when you get the choice to install or repair, pick repair and log on when asked and use the commands to "fixmbr" or "fixboot". Se if that works. Good luck..!
