If you have power steering, it could mean that you are out of fluid. Is the wheel hard to turn?

Since you said "wheels" I assume you mean the 2 wheels that steer the van. It could be worn out wheel bearings, brake or tire problems, or any of a dozen other things. Best bet is have a trained mechanic look at it. Midas, and several other well-known repair businesses will usually check it out for free, or very little money. A good investment, good luck with it.

The outer tie rod ends are making the noise. Usually you can have some grease injected into them with a needle at the local repair shop, and they will stop squeaking. Have them checked to make sure they are not worn to the point of replacement.

steering wheel rubbing against something in the steering colum, it never seems to cause any problem just a noise! Probably something plastic that has moved a little since it was new!

When is the last time you have had your van serviced? It sounds like you need lubrication. If that isn't the problem your stabilizer rods ends may be wearing causing the squeal .Please check with a mechanic you can trust before committing to an extensive repair job.
