I don't understand why this question continues to be asked. The Yankee fans didn't want A-Rod & should be celebrating now that he has opted out. The rest of the fans should be looking at his stats & their favorite teams & trying to decide whether or not he would be an asset to their team. That would be a much more interesting question at this pt. Would A-Rod help my team? Can my team afford him? Is my team interested in him? Someone is going to offer him enough money for him to sign a contract whether he gets ALL the money he wants or not. I don't think A-Rod will ever regret opting out. I think 40 yrs from now, he will still be saying, "The best move I ever made was leaving the Yankees. I just couldn't play any longer for a group of fans that hated me that bad."

I think the Yankees and Gay Rod deserve one-another. Two larger than life fixture's in baseball, and both in NY! I don't care where that baby goes, but if he does go anywhere he ought to go to the NY Mets, where he can further infect and destroy another NY franchise. I cringe to think he will get a contract like the one he wants. He's going to be 33 and while it is not old in baseball standards, when he turns 35 or 36, things start to happen physically to you as a player and then he will will not be worth all that money. If he was unhappy in NY, then he should have opted out because of that. But he opted out because they would not offer him what he wanted. He is money hungry trash of a baseball player. He might get his deal, but fans who used to like him and or respect him, will no longer do either!

Well me being a Red Sox fan, I'm saying yes out of happiness.
But technically, in his perspective, he wanted more money. He asked for 35 million dollars over 8-12 years. Now even the Yankees wouldn't of accpeted that.
Alex Rodriguez is the biggest offensive threat in the American League, (Might soon to be National league) and tons of teams wanted him. I guess from a financially point, he should of opt'ed out because he knows a lot of teams will pay $350 million dollars who can hit .300, with 40 Homeruns, 120 RBI, and at least 20 Stolen Bases a season.
Yet, from a mental point, he shouldn't of, because he's thinking of the money, therefor he's trash.

There was a clause in his contract which allowed him to opt out at year seven and he is the only one that really knows if it was a good move. And yes, I believe he will have multiple offers in the range he is looking for.

The fans in New York unfortunately did not appreciate what A-Rod brought to the table. Nothing he could do would win over the NY fans, why would he stay?
Even if he doesn't get the money his agent is looking for, some team (still up in the air) is going to get extremely lucky by signing him. Players tend to perform even better when they are happy... can you imagine inflated A-Rod numbers? Wow.

He already opted out and is on the free agent market. He has reportedly even wanted to go to Boston.
