Well, I've had experiences with heavy periods. They suck, I know.

Well, what I do is wear both a pad and a tampon. Try using supers and heavy-duty ones; if you go through BOTH of those, then there will be a problem. Try carrying around a purse with some pads and tampons in them for your next period and use both and see if that helps.

Birth control is an excellent little pill to shorten the length of your periods and the flow, but sometimes that worries parents and pushes them away. I'd stick to the doubling up with both pad and tampon.

Also, if you're having irregular periods, cranberry juice can help that. Yup.

Hope that helps!

I would suggest talking to the nurse about this problem. She can probably give you a pass if you need it since this would be a medical problem. You shouldn't be getting in trouble for something you can't control.

I'm not sure of any way to make them lighter other than birth control pills. That is probably what your gynocologist will recommend. Loestrin 24 and YAZ are suppose to make them lighter and shorter. I'm on Loestrin and it works great!

I have heard that lots of exercise will cause lighter or sometimes no periods but how true that is I don't know. Birth control is a good way to control your periods and if there that heavy you should check into it...

I was looking for an answer to the same question and I read that taking Advil (or any other type of ibuprofen) not only helps with cramps, but gives you lighter periods.
