Sun and Moon (with capital letters); the words sun and moon can be used to talk about other stars and planetary satellites (especially in the context of exoplanets).

The Latin names are Sol and Luna, from which we get some other words (e.g., solar and lunar).

The Greek names are Helios and Selene (from which we get heliograph (a device used in meteorology to record the hours of sunlight) and selenographic (related to the Moon's "geo"graphy).

---

We also often use a capital G for our own Galaxy (a.k.a. the Milky Way Galaxy), while others are galaxies. Galaxy is from the Greek word for milk.

There are no scientific names for the Sun and the Moon, since there is only one of each (that's the reason for the capital letters) and so there is no need for different terms than the common ones.

There are different words in other languages (e.g., Sol is Latin for sun, Luna is latin for Moon).

The sun is called a star it has no scientific name and people give our sun a name but it is not called Sol, because a star in Alpha Centauri is called Sol, so is the name of our Star System. And the moon is called Lunar I'm not sure if it is also called Luna.

Sun and Moon. They really don't have special scientific names. Just like the Scientific name for Earth is Earth.

Sometimes the sun is called 'sol,' and the moon 'luna,' but these aren't "scientific" names. Scientists refer to our star as the 'sun,' and our moon as the 'moon.'

"The Sun" and "the Moon." Scientific names don't have to be in Latin. "Sol" and "Luna" are used only by science fiction writers, never by astronomers.
