I think it's too warm where you are for it.... but there's a name for you to use in your search....there are other plants also called 'fireweed' and a few more of them are mentioned here...

I know of another 'fireweed' that has no flowers, and grows like a shrub that turms red in fall that has fine, feathery leaves... but I'm still looking for it's name....I'll bring it when I find it if this isn't the one you want.....

found it... this one was called fireweed where I used to live, up north....also known as burning bush, but not the one we usually think of by that name...
