Yes! It's actually good for her to nurse because your body is making antibiodies to kill off whatever you have and she'll get those. Nurse away!

Yes, she can nurse. I was told by my doctor that the infection only reaches the baby if it is on the outside of the nipple. I had a possible infection in my breast and was told he would not be at risk of getting it. The infection went away and there were no side affects to my son. She should definitely continue nursing unless a doctor directs her to quit and even then I would be asking for a second opinion.

Yes. First of all, her body is making antibodies that the baby's body needs very badly right now. Secondly, if she stops breastfeeding, she may get engorged and get a breast infection, which will cause flu-like symptoms. She doesn't need that! Third, she's too sick to mess with formula, pumping or bottles. That's hard work. Just put her into bed with the baby and let them sleep and nurse all day.

Breastfeeding will help keep your baby healthy, the baby has long since been exposed to whatever she has. Almost all communicable diseases are most infectious before you show any symptoms.

Moms milk contains antibodies which will help the baby fight infection.

There is also almost never any reason to stop breastfeeding to take medication. Virtually ALL conditions have a safe medication.

She was already contagious and baby likely has the same bug so she should DEFINITELY breastfeed so baby can get her antibodies for the bug.

She should also get plenty of rest and drink a lot of liquids to keep her milk supply up. Go help her out! :)

Definitely. I nursed my daughter for 15 months and was recommended by her pediatrician to BF when I was sick. It gives you the opportunity to pass any immunities on to the baby in cause it starts to get sick. You can't pass the illness through breast milk although you should practice good hygiene and wash your hands before feeding to prevent spreading the illness that way.

From my experience you should not if you are taking medication that can be sent though the milk.Tylenol is pretty much the only safe choice to take that will not harm the baby and keep the temp down. If she stops feeding she may loose production and her ducts could clog and it may cause more problems. Just keep pumping and nursing and if the temp gets more the 103.5 call the dr as it may be serious.

Absolutely!

I do advice that you get your gf to a doctor tomorrow if she still has a high fever because that indicates an infection and she needs to stay healthy for the baby and you.

Absolutely! Unless she is taking medication that can harm the child then breastfeeding is still a good idea.
