The tree always goes up about a week before Christmas....and we don't do very much else to decorate. Of course, it all comes down on January 6th....without fail.

I have already started putting up some of my outside lights for this years Christmas Light Show Display.
It was a great weekend for decorating, and I wanted to take advantage of the great weather.
Some of the large decorators started back in October, using Halloween as a cover for putting lights in hidden and hard to see places like shrubs and trees.
But now that it is November, the race is on.
Some like to turn lights on the day after Thanksgiving (which is early this year). Others shoot for the 1st of December.
I am attaching a few links to some of the best displays in the country to help you get in the mood.

We always put them up for my brother's birthday on 13th December and take them down during the 5/6th January.Mind you, it's not unusual to find an odd, forgotten Christmas ornament or spare bulb some where in the living room during March ! If we have a real tree, I find pines all year round!

Actually, I usually put up my Christmas decorations a week or two after Halloween -- and get a lot of comments about that in our little town! I'm a professional singer and music teacher, and so the Christmas season is so busy that I usually have to put up decorations early, or I don't get them up at all. Plus, you have to start your kids learning their Christmas songs in early October in order for them to be ready in time for Christmas, so by the time Halloween is over, I'm usually really in the Christmas spirit! I'll probably try to get them up sometime next week.

They start going up the weekend after Thanksgiving, unless it is unusually warm earlier in November, and then the outside lights go up, but don't get turned on until after Thanksgiving. Just makes life easier on me that way, I don't have to listen to the complaints of a 1/2 frozen husband!

Not until a week or two before Christmas and I always take them down after New Year on the 2nd January! I just feel that way I appreciate them more because they haven't been up for weeks.
