Look at the food you're feeding her.....does it include sunflower seeds? If so, remove them. They're pure fat with no nutritional value to your hamster. Also, keep an eye on how much treats you indulge her with. Do you have an exercise ball that you can put her in, for then she can explore the house? Perhaps that would do more good than her wheel, because it'll peak her curiosity as well, being out of her cage and experiencing new things.

Well, actually it might be muscle. My little sister has a hamster and I thought the same thing. But, He runs on his wheel a lot. And, my mom feeds him the right amount of food that should be given too him. I would ask a vet or somebody at a pet store to make sure.
