The chromosome theory of heredity says that the factors that control heredity are found on the chromosomes.

Evidence?
1. Walter Sutton noticed that the homologous chromosomes separated from each other during meiosis, and this matched what genes do when gametes are made.
2. Calvin Bridges was studying the sex-linked trait of white eyes in fruit flies. His crosses of white eyed females and red eyed males produced a tiny percentage of white eyed females and red eyed males which could only happen if the chromosomes didn't separate correctly. He looked at the chromosomes from the flies and his prediction was correct. One more piece of evidence for the chromosome theory.
