Thanks for a very simple question. Follow my step below.

Firstly, given the equation:
4(3x + x) + 7 - 5x = 8 + (-5)(5x - 6x) + 23

Then, we calculate the expression in the brackets:
4(4x) + 7 - 5x = 8 + (-5)(-x) + 23

Next, we solve the equation:
16x + 7 - 5x = 8 + 5x + 23

We move the value from right hand side into the left hand side:
16x + 7 - 5x - 8 - 5x - 23 = 0

Lastly, we calculate overall equation:
16x + 7 - 5x - 8 - 5x - 23 = 0
16x - 5x - 5x + 7 - 8 - 23 = 0
6x - 24 = 0
6x = 24
x = 24 ÷ 6
x = 4

Therefore, the answer is x = 4

(-5) is just negative five, so, you can't multiply with (5x - 6x) but you can multiply with (-1). My advice; calculate the expression in the bracket first!

I hope you got the best answer for your question. Have a nice day!

4(3x+x)+7-5x=8+(-5)(5x-6x)+23 Multiply the numbers into the parentheses equation first (12x+4x)+7-5x=8+(-25x+30x)+23 Do the maths interior the parenthese next (16x)+7-5x=8+(5x)+23 upload like variables....16x and -5x is 11x....8 plus 23 is 31 11x+7=(5x)+31 subtract the seven from the two factors to eliminate it on the nicely suited element as nicely as subtracting the 5 to get the x's on the different element of the equation. 6x=24 then divide 6 into 6x and 24 x=4 your left with x=4

It's a negative five, and you multiply it with (5x-6x). The parentheses are there so there isn't a + right next to a -, which might look like a typo. There's nothing wrong with writing it as 8+-5(5x-6x) + 23.

(-5) is just negative five. It simplifies to
= 8 - 5(5x - 6x) + 23
= 8 - 5(-x) + 23
= 8 + 5x +23
= 5x + 31

They're just getting tricky with the signs.

simplify:

multiply the 4 by (3x+x):

12x+4x+7-5x=8+ (-5) (5x-6x) +23

using PEMDAS (parenthesis, exponents, multiplication-

division, addition-subraction), simplify (5x-6x) by subtraction

and simplify (-5) by opening the parenthesis to equal -5:

12x+4x+7-5x = 8-5 X (-x) +23

then, you multiply:

12x+4x+7-5x=8+5x+23

then, simplify your x terms and your integers:

6x+7=8+23

6x=24

now, divide both sides by 6:

x=4

12x + 4x + 7 - 5x = 8 -25x + 30x + 23
11x + 7 = 5x + 31
6x = 24
x = 4

The (-5) just means multiply the other () by -5
