Hey Gixx, Don't put it away yet. I'll meet ya half way for a beer before you go into hibernation.
I usually don't start any big projects on mine until after Christmas. By then the weather has turned pretty bad.
It has been an awesome summer for riding but I,m not ready to quit yet.

Here in Idaho, the snow hasn't fallen yet. It's frosty and near 30 at night and early morning, but gets up to anywhere from 45 to 61 in the afternoons (45 is closer to normal). Our Harley club is riding in a veterans day parade this weekend!! Rain or shine, freezing or not, we ride in it every year. The coldest I have ridden in was 16 degrees. I made it an hour from home, had to stop for hot coffee and then headed for home and sat in front of the fireplace for 2 hours!!
Seriously, I'll ride any day there isn't snow or ice on the ground.!! 2 years ago, on my Dyna Wide Glide I rode up in the mountains, it was really cold, the roads were wet, and I didn't realize they had put down salt. I neglected to wash down the ride afterwords and Oh My God did it oxidize the fins on the motor!! Lesson learned.
Ride safe

I live in Nebraska and I am going to ride until the city starts salting and sanding the streets which will be the first snow. There is something invigorating about going 70MPH on the interstate at 25 degrees.
I don't know if they put down the sand and gravel mix where you guys live but that stuff is like riding on ball bearings.

I use the winter season to go over and fix and maintain and work on the big projects I have planned on my bikes, plus while i have the bike stripped down I give it a good cleaning, getting the dirt outta the nooks and crannies, there are a ton of things I do from checking the head bolt torque, pulling the wheels and checking the wheel bearings, lube the axles, clean and check the electrical system and cleaning the connector plugs and installing di-electric grease. I go over every inch of that bike and when spring comes I'm ready to ride and I'm confident nothing is going to go wrong with it.

Not me Gixx! Well...you knew that anyway. Glad to hear you had a great summer of riding. I'll probably round out the year with only about 15,000 miles. Missed out this year on my Canadian trip, but I do have plans to make it next year.
Be safe, stay warm & think Spring!

northeast ohio here. my bike is kept road ready year round. as long as the roads are dry, it's ready to roll. there's a thing called a hose.....that will deal with any salt. just hose it down thoroughly after the ride if u hit any of those patches, and make sure u blow the water out.

We get some nice winter weather every once in a while in NC so I never really put mine away. I prefer riding MX in colder weather though instead of road riding.

I'm in Pueblo, CO. So far I have only lost a couple days due to weather. I plan to ride all winter except when it snows.
