While we do have freedom of speach, we don't have freedom from the repercussions of what we say. He can say the "N" word as often as he wants, however that is frowned upon by the general public and he can be shunned for it. Is that right, you ask? Certainly. The whole idea of a democratic society is that the majority rules, and while I certainly don't want a political debate, our country does just that. His show may be pulled because the media spread the story to the public, and the public rules on such issues.
The fact that he said it in a private conversation doesn't really make a difference. You should always be careful what you say. And one you become as "famous" and Dog you should be aware that your back is always open to stabbing.

I don't like the language that Dog used, however, it was a private conversation and he wasn't told that he was being recorded and that is against the law (unless George Bush does it). He was mad, as his representative stated, because his son Tucker had just gotten out of jail recently and was using meth again. Evidently, Dog thought she (Tucker's girlfriend) had something to do with it and that was his reason for the rant. That aside, Dog has seemed to try and help all of his children and I cannot believe that his son would sell him out for the likes of $25 thousand. Unfortunately, it will probably all go for meth. I don't use the "N" word, but I just wish that Al Sharpton, etc. would boycott Rap who uses it more than anyone. There's a double standard there somewhere. In privacy, I believe you should certainly have the right to speak your mind. Would any of the A&E executives want any of their private conversations made public. I think not!

The media misconstrues everything. They are the instigators of a show's downfall. To be pulled off the show was absolutely ludicrous.
Though I personally don't agree in Duane Chapman saying the "N", it was blown out of proportion when his son recorded the conversation and gave it to the media.
Perhaps his son held a grudge on his father because his girlfriend may have been a troublemaker and instigator as well. We don't really know what happens behind closed doors. And maybe Duane Chapman uses derogatory language at home all the time, it's only now that we recognize it.

To some people, freedom of speech means only saying what they like or agree with. Remember the Oscars with Sally Field - since many in Holloywood agreed with her rants, no one complained. Rose O'Donald is another example.
Political correctness is nothing be a veiled attempted to inhibit free speech. You're right, no matter how much you may disagree or agree with Dog, this was a private conversation that was made public. Much like Alex
Baldwin, but then Alex wasn't fired from his tv program.
Why was Alex not fired but Dog was?

Look.. private talk or not, that phone call reveals some MIGHTY backwards thinking going in OVERDRIVE on Dog's part! A man in his position MUST be way beyond that kind of lameness, yet he isn't! Remarks about a undesirable girlfriend is one thing, even call her a ganster or stupid, ok, but to go on like the usage of the "N" word is always a matter of course for the whole family! Its GOOD this tape is out.
Too bad so many kids loose "Captain America" and he better have saved his "CAptain America" money, cause he just FIRED himself! Heros don't talk that way, but MOSTLY, heros don't THINK that way! R.I.P. Mr. Cool!

the private called was sold to the enquirer by his son.
what's freedom ? if people actually had true freedom every country would be in kiosk if every body decided it is their freedom to do what soever they want.
sorry I can not codole dog ...its easy to look down on under people for their colour of their skin ...but lets see some would say he is a criminal ...he did server and was charge with murdering a man (who by the way happened to be black) but then some might say its freedom to murder whoever you want.
I'm not black but I can see what a crack head he is .I can not tolerate iliterates of any race or creed! And trust me they come in all!
I don't blame these individuals on their race but on their own personal up bringing ! lower class people tend to be less educated and less tolernat of other races.I have met black racists ,chinese, hispanic and asian and sorry they fall all underneath that when you looked at their upbringing .
If he was educated he would know he was a public figure ! I heard all his full conversation (audio) and he does reckonize that he refers to blacks as ******* and he would never have any of his children marry black...so I doubt his comments as he now claims is just dedicated to this one girl his so is dating but of course an entire race)

Spell Check is 100% correct
I don't think he should have had his show pulled. The man is entitled to his own personal views. He never used that word on the show. What we are hearing is a private phone conversation that was recorded without his knowledge. I don't like the fact that people want to police our own thoughts. I'm sure he's not the only white entertainer who uses that word, just like I'm sure there's many black entertainers who don't like whites and use degrading words to describe them. People have a right to their own views.

I think Dog should be able to say whatever he wants. Leave the show on. Like everyone else in the world has never said something they dont mean out of anger. Please they pulled the show. Poor Dog, sold out by his son, and now he lost his show.

If you look at the wiki entry, the context of his use of the N-word is somewhat ironic. The conversation is about black people following him around with tape recorders to capture incriminating evidence (i.e., racism) and get him in trouble.
