hey i was just wondering, im really struggling in school right now. and i guess its just because all of my classes are super hard for me this year. i'm really unstable on which to drop. you see i am doing really really bad in math right now, (honors pre-calc) like i have an F, and in AP us history i have a B, but like i think i have a B in that class because i pay more focus on that class instead of math since AP class has more work. so im wondering which should i drop? should i drop math and just keep on focusing on AP like i am right now or should i drop history and focus on math more? please help and thank youu

you are the only one that can really answer this question-- but something to consider.... (Firtst, I am assuming you are a junior and going to apply for colleges at the beginning of next year)

Honors classes usually raise your GPA (from a 4.0 scale to a 5.0 scale) which COULD help your overall GPA improve. If your GPA isn't so hot and you need it up, consider keeping the honors class. BUT AP classes give you college credit IF you pass the exam. Do you think that you can stay focused enough to keep up the grade/ studies in history AND pass the AP test at the end of the year?

If you are smart enough to get into honor pre- cal, why are you doing so poorly? Have you talked with your teacher about extra help, moving seats to stay more focused, tutor, etc. I would assume that if you have shown your smarts long and hard enough for the counselor to approve two advaced classes, it is because they thought that you could really do it.

And,depending on which you drop, you might have to enroll in CP (college prep- the regular class) to get enough credits to graduate. Which of these classes do you want to do CP and which are available to take CP? There might not be any rom for you this year (which means you might have to take an extra course next year) OR you might be so far behind that you might not be able to catch up/ keep up with the class. Although, it is generally not the case that advacned students do poorly in the regular classes. And one more thing- you might have a new teacher and you will have new class mates-- all things to consider.

again, you are really the only one who can make that choice, but hopefully I have helped you think through your decision a little.

Good luck!

You should drop the math class since you already have a bad start.
Hopefully it is still within the first two what ever required to get a drop no credit not an F.

When you go to do math again seek a tutor to assist you.
You may want to review all your math up to where you are now to brush up your skills.
Brush them in the summer and attack math in Sep when they are fresh.
