The Color Purple, by Alice Walker I actually saw the movie and It was so sad that I have never been able to read the book.

Jane Eyre is a Classic book, by ? Bronte. It is truly sad and yet an excellent book. It will stretch your reading skills as it was written in a time when they all used very big words and long sentences. It will make you cry. It's about an orphan.

That's it for me, I feel sad just telling you about these two books, so good luck and cry away!

I just have to ask....why do you read a sad book every November? Do you need a way to release your own grief?

Here are my picks by Nicholas Sparks...he writes great tear jerker stories:

Saddest:

Message In a Bottle (Bawled my eyes out! Way better than the movie)

A Bend In The Road

At First Sight (sequel to True Believer but could be read separate)

A Walk To Remember

You certainly have a strange hobby...

Try "Notes from the Underground" by Dostoyevsky. It is a collection of short stories. "White Nights" is sad. There are also other stories in the book that are sad too.

While it was only sad in the end, I would suggest:
Marley & Me. Life and love with the worlds worst dog.
It made me laugh alot before it made me cry, and I dont cry easy.

I would say Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling. It made me cry all through it.
