I don't think White Oleander is a good book for a 13 year old but it's a good book (in response to the post above).

Water for Elephants, The Outsiders, Taming the Star Runner, A Walk to Remember, Go Ask Alice

OK i am 13 and I love to read. I am currently not reading anything b/c I have read all of the good book I own. Maximum Ride by James Patterson is amazing. It is a series set with 3 books. I read it when I was 10 but it would be great for a 13 year old. There is also Olive's Ocean, The Tale of Despereaux, and the Thief Lord. Depending on your level of reading, these would be great. Please e-mail me with some good books you have read.

Go to Amazon.com and search
"Lost from Atlantis Book 1" - book 2 is coming out in the next month or two, and 3 is already written and in editing.
"Death by Murder David Lindsay" - you have to search that way for it to come up. There's a lot of sex and violence in it but it's good, not gratuitous. But this post is 9 years old so it's safe for you to read now.
and "Super Spaghetti."

They're free on Amazon's Kindle Unlimited, and you can Google how to get a free trial of that. And you can get a free Kindle app for your phone or just read them online.

Even though it's a classic, I'd recommend Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen. I read it before I was your age and again after; I understood and enjoyed it at each reading. (In fact, it's the first book that really got me into reading.)

You may enjoy Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (it stands alone, but it's the first in a trilogy with Little Men and then Jo's Boys) and Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery (this is the first in a series, but it, too, will stand alone).
