i pay up. its usually a scratch lottery ticket or a six pack, but i get paid up cos i dont bet unless im nearly certain i'm right. there have bet a few silly bets all in good fun

A bet with a payment agreement if any part loses and paying/receiving the bet are part of the fun.
I always bet responsible: one cent up to one dollar; selling lemonade on one day of the weekend - like children do at bike trails - and only coming back home when reaching $10.00 in sales; dinner/lunch, cleaning all the house windows, etc...

Of course I do, but if I'm not 100% sure of winning, then the betting amount is not very high.

I would tell that person that if they want there money they can take a long walk off a short bridge. i never pay any bets and im an all american
