i would say New England is the most patriotic. that's where it all began, that's where the rebellion began, that's the region most of the founding father's are from, and that was the region with the fewest loyalists
as for least patriotic, i'd say the south -- no debate there. not only did they abandon the union in the 19th century, but they still show their pride in their attempt at treason by waving their confederate flags in this day and age. not only that, but during the rev. war, the south had the highest per capita percentage of loyalists.
(by the way, i'm not saying NE because i live there. i don't live anywhere near there)

william: the south did not support lincoln
lincoln did not start the republican party
the democrat party and the republican party have switched as far as political views since lincoln's time (back then, the republican party was the liberal party)

I think this matter is 100% subjective and not able to be accurately measured and recorded. But still, the most patriotic would, the midwest! Woohooo!

Historically, you're probably right. New England definitely has a lot of patriotic history. Why, they even have a football team named Patriots. Wow!
But that carries little weight when you try to look at modern-day patriotism. It's pretty clear that you've never lived in the South. I've lived in New England, and I've lived in the South, and there's absolutely no comparison. The South is WAY, WAY more patriotic than New England today.
Of course, if you redefine patriotism, you could argue anything you want to. But using a traditional definition, your premise is just wrong. You can't use the character of the region 200 years ago and attribute it to the people today.

I live in Virginia.
Where it ACTUALLY all began.
Ever heard of Jamestown?
It's in the south.
Where did you get the idea that we are not very patriotic?
Do you honestly believe that everyone flies a confederate flag down here?
You are generalizing an entire region for no reason but to spew your ignorance.
This is nothing more than a politically biased rant!

Most patriotic: south for supporting the proud republican party built by great Lincoln.
Least: New England and the urban parts of California for their indecency and support for the party that doesn't care about terrorism.
EDIT- I didn't say they supported Lincoln, I just said that Lincoln built the party.

Every place I've been to in America has generally shown pride on being American. I dont' think you can really quantify these feelings, as stated above.
Maybe in the past certain regions have shown certain political loyalties, but is that what defines American nationalism? I think this question is a good example at our general inability to define the nationalism of America.

As usual you yankees are wrong again.
The south has a rich tradition of fighting for our country in all wars and conflicts. True it all started up there but your loyalty to the real America has long faded. I would say California is the most unpatriotic part of the country and would hope the rest of the U.S. is about even.
