2m^4 - 100m^2 - m = 0

m(2m^3 - 100m - 1) = 0

Therefore, either m = 0 or 2m^3 - 100m - 1 = 0

The cubic equation can be solved using Newton's iteration
method. The solutions are :

m1 = -7.066062498541354
m2 = -0.01000002000012
m3 = 7.076062518541474

The solution is 19! detailed how-to below: to make this easier, group the x's together with, of course, their +/- signs: 3x - 2x + 17 + 2 now this is an equation, and if you see no EQUAL SIGN (=), then you should assume that if there was, your whole equation should be equal to zero: 3x - 2x + 17 + 2 = 0 now simplify-- use simple subtraction when dealing with the variables (ignoring the x's, but remembering to put them in the result) this means that you should answer "3-2": 1x + 19 = 0 i got the 19 by adding 17 and 2. you now have a "1x", but you can remove the "1", because writing down just "x" really means "1x" x + 19 = 0 now to solve it, the variable should be on one side, and the known value on the other side. remember that if you take a number or a variable across the equal sign, you should ALWAYS change it's +/- sign! : x = -19 or 19 = -x now you have the solution! x is equal to "negative 19" or "-19" or you can read it as "negative x is equal to 19", which is the same thing. hope this was enough detail.

2m^4 = 100m^2 + m
divide by m
2m^3 = 100 m + 1
2m^3 - 100m = 1
sorry, I forgot how to solve cubic equation other than Newton's method, which is quite long.

2m^4-100m^2-m=0
m(2m^3-100m+1)=0 so m = 0
and
2m^3- 100m-1=0 which has real root = -1.000002*10^-2
x=7.07606251854and x=-7,06606249854

2m^4 = 100m^2 +m
2m^4 -100m^2 -m = 0
now you can treat as quadratic equation and solve;
x^2 = m^2 ... a = 2m^2
-100m^2 = +bx ... b = -100
c = -m

Now use the formula; m=(-b ±sqrt(b² -4ac)) / 2a
m=(100 ±sqrt(10,000 -4*2m²*-m)) / 2*2m²
m=(100 ±sqrt(10,000 +8m^3)) / 4m²
m=(100 ±sqrt(10,000 +8m^3)) / 4m²
5m^3 = 100 ±sqrt(10,000 +8m^3)
5m^3 -100 = ±sqrt(10,000 +8m^3)
(5m^3 -100)² = (10,000 +8m^3)
25m^6 -1000m^3 +10000 =10000 +8m^3
25m^6 -8m^3 = 0
m^3(25m^3-2^3) = 0
=> m^3 = 0
or 25m^3 = 8; m = 2/3rd.rt(25)

ANS: m= 0 or m = 2 divided by the cube root of 25.
