I think meditation would have to be one of the pillars of improved cognitive functioning.
Learning to be in the moment helps us think more clearly and efficiently.

The brain is mostly water. And it functions better when we are properly hydrated. So it's important to drink more water, herbal teas, juice etc. It actually makes a difference, if your not in the habit I expect you will notice it.

Cut back on caffeine, sugar and junk food in general.
Getting in good shape is important as it improves circulation. The more blood and oxygen that gets to the brain the better.
So something aerobic is really helpful.

I have read the only fuel the brain can utilized it glutamin - it's an amino acid. So supplementing with that helps as well.

The B vitamins as well are important for nerve and brain functioning.
Doing crossword puzzles and brain games like that is helpful. And there is actually a program called 'brain gym' which I haven't tried but I know people who really like it.

And there's more, just google it!

The problem isn't the brain. It's motivation, education, and moral foundation. The equipment given to each human is excellent. Equipment varies by individual and area. The job of each human is to assess their equipment, develop it as best they can, and figure out how best to use that equipment to meet their own personal needs, the needs of their family, and the needs of mankind. Brain modification isn't necessary. Get the government and unions out of education. Get rid of drugs and gangs. Teach each human that, among other things, what you get out of life depends on what you put into it.

No.

But by breathing slowly & deeply, your body will relax and that's only the beginning of your metamorphasis. Doesn't it sound great?!?

This works in perfect harmony with Vinyassa Yoga or Ashtanga Yoga!

"Yoga believes in transforming the individual before transforming the world. Whatever change we want to happen outside should happen within. If you walk in peace and express that peace in your very life, others will see you and learn something."

- Sri Swami Satchidananda

This place gave me much to think about. One's own perceptions can be changed gradually. . . breathe deeply. . .
