From within Corel, under the file menu, click "export. Then in the window, select the file type you wish to use.
This will create a separate file in the new format, leaving your original Corel file intact.
In Photoshop, navigate to the new file and open it. You can make changes in this file without disturbing your original Corel file.
Depending on which of Corel's suite of applications you have made your drawing, there may be some detaile differences in how you must do it. When crossing over from one manufacaturer's application to another, I much prefer the "export" features, since it, usually creates another file, unlike the "import" features, which bring in the original without creating a copy, unless the user does a separate "save as" function.

You can export your CorelDraw file as a .psd file. You can even set your options so that the layers and/or transparency will be preserved. After that, you can easily import or open the resulting .psd file with Photoshop.
