ok the toilet's flooded(obviously) and i have been doing everything. i plunged it but everytime i do, then flush again, it'll go down then the water level will raise a little more. im scared to flush again and then just floods the bathroom.
im not a real good "handywoman" but i know its too much toilet paper down there but i dont know what else to do...so here's my question.
with a small problem like this...will the toliet just drain itself if i leave it overnight and be useful in the morning again??
and if i take a shower right now, will it affect the toilet?
quick help is greatly appreciated. =]

Really al you need is to plunge the toilet properly. While the bowl is nearly ful of water press the plunger down as tightly as possible then quickly jerk the plunger up just a couple inches. This sucks water up and loosens the clog as the over full toilet bowl will force it's way back down the pipe and clear the clog away. It may take several quick jerks at the plunger but be careful not to get too violent as it may start to splash and make a mess. if you are patient and plunge success will soon be found. Good Luck!!

When I have that problem (typical of low-flush toilets) I try pouring in a lot of shampoo. The detergents in it will soak through the clog and make it easier to plunge. Pour it in and wait for it to start to gurgle down. Right now while it is up high try plunging again. I assume you have a toilet plunger (not a flat bottom sink plunger) so it will eventually work.
Take your shower now because it has no relevance to the toilet drain. I think more plunging may be in your future. Make sure that the shutoff valve on the wall under the toilet can be shut. If it turns easily then if it starts to rise disastrously after you flush again quickly turn that valve clockwise to shut the water off.

The chances of it healing itself are pretty slim. However, you can take a nice hot shower and get a good nights sleep and who knows - you might just wake up to a clear toilet!! (now that's a pleasant thought!)
If its still clogged you will have to call Roto rooter or someone with a big snake!
A note to your note: since you live in an apartment they should take care of this. They may even have a maintenance person on staff.

My mother just puts some water in the toilet and all the water goes down. But the water has to be in a bucket.

it just won't go away, maybe you can get a pipe snake to break up the clog. if the level is higher than usual just keep trying to plunge it till i flushes. good luck

If it's that bad you're going to have to have someone snake it out. It most likely won't go back to normal on it's own. The good news is that the shower won't affect it.

Get a garden hose. Run it through the window. Put spout end in toilet bowl, into smallest porton. Pack towels around hose end and hold them tightly with your hands. Have someone turn hose water on. Water pressure should force clog down the pipe.
Have never had this fail. Let me know your results. Your welcome.
