NO!!!! Alcoholism is far to commonplace here in the US. I was 18 when the drinking age was 18 and it really just gave me an excuse to party more. I don't think kids today are mature enough to legally buy or drink at 18. I don't think that drinking and adulthood have anything to do with one another. There is no draft for military services, it is all volunteer and I went in when I was young. It is a persons free will to join the military, it doesn't give them right to drink if they are not of age. The age limit for drinking isn't a privledge like voting and serving in the army. It is a law and laws are to be followed. Sorry, but I don't think 18 is old enough for kids to be drinking. I have a 22 & 23 year old and know that not being able to legally drink until 21 kept them out of a lot of trouble and they are much more responsible about drinking now. Just an opinion!!!

The raising of the legal age was done in response to the large number of alcohol related fatal car accidents by 18 and 19 year olds. There isn't a necessity to lower it .

I understand what you're saying about legal contracts, voting, military, etc.. But, one major reason the minimum age to drink is 21 is that scientists discovered that the human brain continues to develop until the age of 20.

I believe if we are able to vote and fight for our country at the age of 18, we should be able to drink at the age of 18 ! 18 is an adult ! I know that I'm 19 and it is a pain that I can't have a drink when I go out with friends ! I really don't see what the big deal is.

I don't care how much a KID can do at the age of 18; they do not need to be drinking. I have personal experience from my brother and my dad who have both been drinking a very long time. My brother just turned 19. I think it would be stupid to allow for 18 year olds to drink.
