2/x + 3 = 5/x
Multiply both sides by x.

2 + 3x = 5
3x = 3
x = 1

Mult. both sides of the equation by x to cancel out the x terms that are in denominators:
(2/x + 3)x = (5/x)x
2 + 3x = 5
Subtract 2 from both sides to isolate the x term. Divide that equation by the coefficient of x, and you have your solution.
