"screw the rest of the world?"
If that were our policy, wouldn't we have crushed the OPEC nations in '74 when their embargo crippled our economy? Or just kept Kuwait after we drove the Iraqis out? Or balance our budget by simply retaining the foreign aide that we send to other countries and use it to pay down our own debt? Surely if this policy were in place we'd have snipers on our border and INS agents at every day worker location. The United States gives out more foreign aid than the rest of the world combined - is that your definition of "screw the rest of the world?"

When you pledge your loyalty to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands as one nation under God, and indivisible, with liberty and justice for all Americans, you are saying that you will be loyal to the flag and all it stands for.
The rest of the world does the same thing.
We should be united to defending our own first. Helping our own first. Taking care of our own first.
Not illeagles who are in our country.
This country is being divided from the inside by politicians who do not have the good of the country at heart.
Too bad many people do not care and will vote for them anyway. Then be upset when their person gets in and does
all the wrong things, but says it is for their own good.

It is hard to improve "screw the world".

Maybe an affirmation of torture and injustice for all???

Perhaps we could learn from our leader and pledge to torture without actual mentioning any specific technique.

But why in the 'land of the free and the home of the brave' is it necessary to pledge allegiance to anything at all?

And certainly not a flag.

Or even "the republic for which it stands".

If 'republic' once had meaning, the elites have decided the corporation called USA is now a democracy.

This effectively removes any actual significance for school children or anyone else.

Nope...but it sure sounds like a good foreign policy to me !

Save our tax dollars and end all that aid we send to third world countries that take the cash yet badmouth us. They would be singing a different tune rapidly !

If not, who needs em ?

what gets me is ... the country is based on (a) GOD and the things we celebrate, for the most part are based on that "GOD" (Christmas, Easter, Good Friday) but because people CHOOSE to come to other countries, we are being made to change.
I believe we should celebrate everyone religious needsbut don't change mine to fit into yours.
It is Merry Christmas, Not Happy Holiday or Season Greetings!

I don't think so. Your opinion is misguided; the USA puts more time and resources into helping others worldwide than any other nation.

yes

These our my thoughts. Leave Under God in the Pledge. If you don't want to say it, bleep it out, but don't forbid others from saying it (just because you don't like it).
