My conservative position that there are limits on government interference in our personal lives. IMO the government overstepped those limits with the passage of the Harrisom Narcotics Act of 1914. Adults have the right to take informed risks, including risks like using alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, etc. Same principle applies to an informed choice to swallow rat poison. Government oversteps it's limits in taking any position whatsoever on who does or does not receive the RELIGIOUS sacrament of marriage, and again oversteps it's limits in making any law gender specific. I don't know how people can call themselves conservative and support this sort of government intrusion into such very personal choices, so go figure.

Euthanasia has never been supported by either political side of the spectrum. Dr. Kevorkian lobbied for assisted suicide back in the 1990's, which is quite different from euthanasia. He had support of individuals who were familiar with the suffering that dying people sometimes go through - not necessarily liberal or conservative.
One outcome of his work, briefly, was a movement by the medical community to provide better pain relief for the dying. That too, has faded into the past.

These are the broadest of generalities and are really not very useful or nuanced for talking about politics. I'm tempted not to answer because I know by doing so I am making a false dichotomy "true." But here is how those things will shake out in the broadest terms:
Euthanasia: If you mean killing the "unfit" (i.e. mentally retarded) both liberals and conservatives would be against that. If you mean legal, or doctor assited suicide liberals would for, conservative against
gay marriage: Liberals for, conservatives against
the patriot act: liberals against, conservatives for.
national healthcare: liberals for, conservatives against - conservatives will call this socialized medicine
legalizes marijunana: I would say only the most liberal are for this and conservatives are against it.
These are braod sweeps - not true in all cases and again not very useful for understanding a person.

I really don't know about the moderates...but...
Liberals show support for gay marriage, try to boost the effectiveness of health care, and do not support the patriot act.
Conservatives do not support gay marriage, do support the patriot act (majority does), and are not nearly as big on health care.
Neither supports euthanasia or legalization of marijuana.
Note, differences to this can be prevalent. But I am speaking about these issues on a majority-wise scale.

Everyone has a different opinion.
Not all Conservatives think the same.
Nor do Liberals.
You are just gonna have to do some research.
I'm an Independent.
I am for euthanasia in certain situations.
I am against gay marriage because it is a hetero-term.
I'm for the patriot act.
I'm against socialized medicine.
I'm for legalization of marijuana.

I am a conservative.
Euthanasia-completely against
gay marriage-completely against, as is over 70% of Americans
Patriot Act-generally for it. Do not know every component of it.
health care-for private sector solutions. The government can loosen mandates so people can buy what they want and need, instead of having to buy policies with mandates that cover items they do not need.
legalization of drugs-against. You get what you tolerate and allow.
You also have to be concerned with conservative versus Republicans. These are occasionally confused, but are completely different.
My positions are consistent with conservatives.
Liberals are for larger government and more control over our lives. They will support gay marriage by in large.

I'm a liberal. I'm for euthanasia (if you want it and are suffering badly), for gay marriage, against the patriot act, for changing health care, and for the legalization of marijuana.
I can't speak for all liberals because I'm very liberal, not just slightly liberal. I'd say most conservatives are the exact opposite of me, and moderates can go either way on anything, as long as almost half are yes and half are no.

abortion
i don't agree with having one, but I really do not wish the government to be involved in our reproductive decisions, nor do I wish taxes to be raised for another ban just to make right-wingers happy to complainn about a tax hike, and enforce the ban.
gay marriage
who cares, they pay their taxes like the rest of us, they should be able to suffer like the rest of us. non-issue to straight people. The only thing i find to be an issue, is the government should not force churches to perform the service, if they are aginst it.
patriot act
erosion of constitution
legalization of marijauna
not a good idea. decriminalization is a far better idea since it will stop our justice system from being burdened with this absurdity, while allowing police to do something about minor's in possesion. Also making people not able to get financial aid for school because of possession only traps them in that lifestyle, compounding the problem.
national health care
for subsidized insurance provided by private insurance companies, against socialized medicine.
