Philip Martin, close friend and one of four of Thompson's advisors entered a plea of guilty to the sale of 11 pounds of marijuana in 1979; the court withheld judgment pending completion of his probation. He was charged in 1983 with violating his probation and with multiple counts of felony bookmaking, cocaine trafficking and conspiracy. He pleaded no contest to the cocaine-trafficking and conspiracy charges, which stemmed from a plan to sell $30,000 worth of the drug, and was continued on probation.

He was not among the felons pardoned by GW Bush so far Bush has only pardoned bribe takers and perjurers. He may be among the Drug Dealers papa Bush Pardoned..after all those guys helped finance their little war in Central America and their clandestine arms dealings with Iran.

Then again both Cheney and GW Bush would be felons if they lived in California. Second and subsequent DUI's are treated as felonies in CA

Thompson is an actor, but unless he has had a chance to rehearse his lines he is unable to ad lib as shown in his performance in the Debates.

Bottom line is No Republican stands a chance in the next Election. They continue to show their total lack of ethics and disregard for family values. America is fed up.

You know what? Sometimes good friends have very spotty pasts. Let's see, this was nearly 30 years ago. I wonder, do you know everything about every one of your friends? What they did or didn't do 30 years ago? Just wondering. Frankly, I don't believe Fred Thompson has a snowball's chance of being nominated, anyway, so it is probably moot. Just for the record, though, I like Fred Thompson's voting record, and I don't give a roaring rat's *** what his friend did or didn't do.

Typical Liberal trying to start a rummer ,If you feel the need to do this kind of crap just look at the Liberal Democrat Party You can easily find corruption! A lot more then Republicans! Start with Hillary hiding her criminal records until after the election. Grow up!

Already a long shot. Not much chance he could get any longer.
This was the first bit of excitement in his campaign. Other than this, the man is like watching paint dry on a stick.

Not an issue.

Thompson has no chance at nomination. He got more buzz but not opting into the race for as long as he did. Since he opted in, he has actually lost ground.
