I need to know:

1. What exactly is it they do.

2. What classes I need to take for college or if I even need college.

3. How much they are paid.

4. Is this a good job? (only answer if you are a computer programmer)

5. How do they find a job? Are there companies that will hire you? Or do you just stay at home and put an add in the paper or something, and if anyone needs your help you go there or what?

Please take the time to answer these questions correctly. Please don't answer if you have nothing to say. Thank you.

A computer programmer writes coded instructions for computers to follow.

Realistically, to get a job today as a computer programmer you need a college degree. The name of the degree varies depending on the school, but would be in the IT or Computer Science area.

Pay for computer programmers is good. Can't give you a number, since it depends on experience, on the company you are working for, and on the area of the country you are in.

I think it's a good job. I guess everyone would have their own opinion there. You have to be very detailed to be successful.

You find a job by going through your college placement office, by reading ads in the newspaper or online, and by word of mouth. Since programmers tend to be fairly mobile, after awhile a lot of the jobs come from word of mouth from someone you formerly worked with.
