going 2 amsterdam probably in may. How much spending money would i need aside fomr my hostel costs????

That does depend on what you want to do.

Food, between € 20 and €100 per day.
Drinks, between free, (fill your water bottle in your hotel,) to €100 per day (if you go out clubbing it can be even more.)
Entertainment, between nothing, just wandering around, and € 50 per day, in that case you can go to two of the main museums and see a movie in the evening. I think day trips out of town start about € 50 and go up from there.

Other kinds of recreation, like shopping, spending time and money in a coffee shop, buying souvenirs and so on, can get very expensive, but can be skipped altogether too, so you will have to work it out for yourself.

So it will be between € 20 and € 2000 per day, depending on your spending habits in shopping and how much self control you have.
