We don't usually put the tree up until about a week before Christmas....and we don't do too much else to decorate the house. I usually start thinking about Christmas in early December, though.

Usually up just after Thanksgiving !!
After all the presents are opened ,
I go around the next day and put
all the decorations under the tree
so as not to look so bare !! That
way it is all in one place for when
I pack it away after New Years day !!

We have started here in earnest! I bought a real growing Christmas tree, just a small one to put on the top landing near my room, my daughter gets a real tree for the middle floor and a fake one(which she calls a faux fir) for the lower floor. We have lights, moving mechanical reindeer on the roof,an electric trainset that runs around the tree, plus a full miniature village & many other things.I also play my c.d.'s of carols from November on.

I don't really decorate now, no family or kids and would just be more things for me to trip over or break.
Growing up we always did our decorating the day after Thanksgiving.
