I mostly made my own baby food because most of the stuff out there isn't any good for baby - especially those silly cereals! As some friends of mine have said, I wouldn't feed that stuff to my dog!
Mine loved, and still loves although in whole form, mashed bananas. She also liked sweet potatoes, apples, and believe it or not, green beans. But her fav was definitely bananas, followed by the potatoes and apples. I have very small food processor that allowed me to easily and quickly make baby food without a huge cleanup. :o)

I started both my boys on breastmilk/rice cereal. Then started adding in apples, bananas, plums, prunes, etc. For veggies, sweet potatoes, peas, carrots. By far, the favorites were bananas! You might want to check out www.opmom.com for more info on feeding and wealth of other topics - it's great site and the people there are very supportive.

I started giving my daughter pieces of banana and avocado at 6ish months and she finally ate some around 7.5 months, I think? Never used rice cereal, it's useless. Never used baby food, it's overpriced and is completely unnecessary. Oh, well, one time my mom INSISTED we get some of the jarred lamb because she swore it tasted like pate. Whatever, lol.

Her favorites have shifted over the months, but right now it's frozen blueberries. Straight from the freezer, into her mouth. She could eat her weight, I think.

First I started with rice cereal for infants. After that I gave baby food veggies, and then baby food fruits. His first real, non-baby food was cherrios.
Wait a couple of days after trying something new to make sure there are no allergies or bad reactions to anything.
My baby's favorite food when he first started eating solids was banana baby food.

rice cereal for breakfast. Farleys do a range of different flavoured cereals.

I then moved onto vegetables for lunch. Personally i prepared pureed plantain mixed with sprouts (wasnt bad actually and she loved it). Plantain is sweet but if you arent familiar with that vegetable you could try something like sweet potato - something that is sweet to taste to get them into it.

well i started this week.. puréed foods, such as baby rice, fruit purées, porridge. give them a variety of tastes so they dont just get fussy. but first thing is to get them used to eating of a spoon, they will like anything mixed with their milk because its familiar. and then experiment with other things. mine like the apple and banana porridge! good luck!

It's recommended that you start with rice cereal, because that is least likely to cause an allergic reaction. You can then start introducing fruits and veggies, a new food every 3-4 days.

My baby LOVED sweet potatoes
