Nipples on a man have no use at all, so why, oh why??
They must have had some reason in the far past, they couldn't have been created for show. Or is it evolution? Will Male & Female become one??

Nipples are gender neutral, modified sweat glands which are present in the embryonic human. With the dominant presence of female hormones in puberty, they allow women to lactate. Men and women both have breast tissue, but only women grow breasts and lactate due to their hormones. Both men and women have facial hair, but due to male hormones, men grow full beards. It's the same sort of thing with nipples -- they're part of the default human form, but based on one's sex they appear or function differently.

EDIT: No, the fetus does not begin as a female. If that were true, everyone would have XX chromosomes. In reality, women have XX chromosomes and men have XY chromosomes from the moment of conception. The fetus begins as a gender neutral embryo as it forms the organs and parts which ALL humans have. It's the X or Y chromosome which simultaneously signals hormones to develop the male-or-female-specific characteristics, such as shaping the default gonads into testicles or ovaries.

The answer is that as embryos men and women have similar tissues and body parts. If anything the embryo follows a 'female template'. That is why nipples are present in both sexes. It is the effect of the genes, the Y chromosome and the hormone testosterone that brings about the changes and masculinises the embryo. Testosterone promotes the growth of the penis and testicles. Because nipples are there before this process begins the nipples stay!

Nipples and breast tissue have no function as such except for perhaps protecting the heart and lungs from injury.

Men and women are mammals (from the Latin mamma breast) a species that have breasts and feeds its young with milk. The human embryo has tissue that will evolve into breasts. Both male and female babies are born with nipples and ducts intact. It is the presence of genes that direct hormones to differentiate the breast tissue. The Y chromosome stimulates hormones such as testosterone to form male features.

The nipple is actually the central protrusion inside of the pigmented areola. There is a thin muscle just under the skin that when stimulated, tends to flatten the puffed male nipple areola. This muscle when stimulated in a breast feeding woman, projects the nipple for the baby. Nerves that innervate the nipple / areola can produce pleasure for both men and women.

-Nipples are especially sensitive and are a source of sexual stimuli, even for many men.

-Nipples are the result of an efficient plan of embryonic development. Human embryos contain characteristics of both sexes at first, because they all have basically the same genetic information. It is design economy. For example, in all human embryos, at first both the mullerian duct system (female) and the wolffian duct system (male) develop, because both sexes have the genetic information for these structures. Incidentally, this refutes the urban myth that human embryos "start out female."

tell me about it!! i have been questioning an analogous aspect. I got here to the end that it is complicated, because there is not any longer adequate help for breastfeeding moms, and by no skill adequate assistance. Your lactation representative is misguided! you'll get your toddler to latch back. it is merely going to take time and persistence. he's likely used to the bottles by technique of now, so it is going to take some paintings. first of all, you want to employ an electric powered double pump, so as that your grant gained't decrease. The Medela symphony is really good for increasing and preserving grant. Then attempt to feed toddler at the same time as he's not any longer too hungry, so he's more advantageous affected human being, and would not get pissed off. So grant the breast before he asks. Spend a lot of time mendacity in mattress, cuddling with him, which includes your breast availbale. Take an excellent relaxing bathtub, and enable him attain as a lot as your breast on his personal. Squeeze out slightly of milk, so he can scent it, and continuously have him close. it will ensue for you. And he will commence to nurse with out the safeguard. Mommy's breast smells high quality, in assessment to the synthetic nipples and breast shields. he will commence to relish it quickly. merely have persistence, and do not rigidity out. attempt contacting a countless lactation representative too. they're no longer all just about as good, or as experienced as they're commonly. good success, and congratulations. best for you for awesome in there. ETA: you could take blessed thistle and fenugreek drugs to strengthen your grant. i imagine the dossage is 6 drugs an afternoon of each and every. If that would not help, you could ask your healthcare professional about domperidone. It enables to strengthen grant. you could e mail me in case you pick to communicate, or choose help, or have any questions in any respect. I had a very not person-friendly commence too, so i understand how complicated it will be. yet 20 months later, we 're nonetheless going good. it would want to ensue for you too. ;)

When we mutated into humans from the missing link male nipples happened along as a mutation at the same time. Since nipples are not a disadvantage to a man there is no reason for evolution to have removed them at a later date.

That's my theory, anyway.

For the first 12 weeks of embryonic development, the feutus is non-sex, therefore the development of nipples in all humans is purely to ensure that females get them

The males who are weighing in on this question and are horrified by the idea that all fetuses start out as female need to learn a little biology. It's not a put down. It simply the way things are. And, there is no "why" to this question. All mammals, male and female have nipples.

Why do you put an apostrophe in nipples? They are not required...
As a baby is developing in the womb, most of the major organs will develop before the sex of the child has been determined, so the nipples will be present.

OK let us disabuse some of the rubbish on here first. All foetuses do not start off as female (although the respective mammalian foetuses are physically indistinguishable in the early stages of development). The sex of the embryo is determined by the sperm entering the oocyte at fertilisation. The functionality of the breast is enabled by the excretion of female hormones after about 3 months gestation. This certainly contradicts any ideas of intelligent let alone optimal design in 'creationism'.
