So, we gave away an extra dryer we had. It worked perfectly fine right before we gave it away. They just hooked it up and it won't turn on. They even checked the fuses. What could it be??

Several of the answers above could be possible, but there are a few more possibilities. There is a fuse in most dryers, in the back bulkhead, behind the back panel, most of which come off. It's also possible that the door isn't completely closed or that the door switch, (which won't let anything run if it's not functioning or left open), might be broken. If it was OK just before you gave it to them then the odds are the motor is ok now, there's just some little thing that they're not seeing that's keeping it from running. Make sure there's 240 volts to the recepticle and that it's wired properly.

The outlet on the wall could be bad. Tripped circuit breaker or a wall fuse.

maybe in the process of moving it something came loose. You could start with a power tester,'voltmeter' and track the power flow. Usually if the control goes bad on an old unit its time to buy new.
