The PS3 has the best graphics and performance. The failure rate of PS3's are less than 1%, the Xbox 360 failure rate is 30%. With the PS3 you can literally play games for days and the console wont over heat as long as it has the proper ventillation.
The PS3 does have great online gameplay, but the Xbox 360 in my opinion is more of a multiplayer/online game console. I don't play multiplayer games or play online so it doesn't matter to me.
I have a PS3 and it's clearly the best. If you get a 360, you would be wasting money because the chances of it getting the Red Ring of Death is pretty likely, the PS3 has WiFi and everything else built in.
The PS3 is a console for gamers that like to play all types of games from shooters, racers, action/adventure, RPG's and more. The PS3 has a more diverse exclusive game library. The Xbox 360 is a console that has most First person shooters and shooters for it's exclusive games. I'm a diverse gamer, I'm a Sony gamer, and the PS3 is the better choice.

The PS3...Just because the Xbox 360 have more games, the PS3 has a lot of upcoming games

I'm a Sony fan, and I find the PS3 better. But I'd say it really depends more on what you want.
If you are buying it only to play offline games, the xbox might b cheapter, but if u r playin online games, u have to pay for xbox live while ps3 is free. this will eventually add up n u'll find that ur payin too much for xbox live.
also, if u have a ps2/ps1, u might also want to consider the ps3 since there is backwards compatibility n u wouldn't have to have your ps3 and your ps2/ps1 plugged in.
lastly, im not too sure about this, but i think the xbox plays only dvd games, you have to buy a seperate addon for about $200 to play hd-dvd games. im not too sure, but i think something like the elite version would come with it.

I believe that the PS3 is better, more realistic graphics (especially in things like racing sims), cool controller motion controls, included blue ray player, contracts with certain companies that ensure only they get the games (that depends on what games you like cuz its the same for wii and xbox 360). and of course, now that there are more competitively priced ps3's its better too

the best is 360 i had to choose i get the jumbo pack for the 360 and man it was worth it actually it depends on what kind of games you like if you like sports games get a ps3 if you like war get 360 its that simple

PS3 hands down. It may be expensive and all but to me, Xbox has never had a chance against playstation
