After a night out at the local bar, my ex-husband and I had an intense emotional conversation. We both admitted that we still love each other. It's been 9 years since we divorced. He has re-married and is miserable. I have dated more than my share looking for "the one", with no luck.
Is it true that people tend to be more honest when they are drunk and their guard is down? Or does past experiences shown it to be just "the alcohol talking"?

The Roman's knew the answer to this question over a thousand years ago.
"In vino veritas." In wine, there is truth.

It is the alcohol talking but the alcohol speaks the truth. It enables people to say what they may be otherwise unable to. My ex always calls me up and he's all drunk and he'll be like, "Oh, I love you still and you own my soul" and all this stupid sh!t. Then the next day when I'm making fun of him, he says it's just because he was drunk. "Yes," I tell him. "But that doesn't make it not true." And he never has anything to say about that.

Liquor or something that could reason stupor, is definitely an intoxicant! ingesting is particularly likened to a drug dependancy! So on the time your boyfriend is sober, clarify it to him that ingesting is an expression of a suppressed thoughts of something it relatively is bothering his spirit(soul) altho he maynot be conscious of it. If in basic terms you are able to confident him to pass to a counselor or minister and enable such man or woman help him out to eliminate such subconscious habit he's doing, this could extremely style of help save your frienship with him. maximum priest, minister or psychologist have studied all styles of behavioral issues. So be in basic terms tactful as you are able to to verify him that his ingesting is definitely he has a difficulty interior his spirit: we call it a ("shattered soul) it extremely is barely healed if he can settle for despite the fact that it relatively is bothering him which has something to do along with his previous existence! good success honeybun

it depends, I think we become less insecure, and the old saying (a drunk man say's what a sober man thinks) ??????? hard to say bout your x, if ppossible you should talk when you are both sober. he may feel guilty about something. he may still love you , but not want to hurt the new wife, you are both in a touchy situation. maby counseling???

they're more honest and more likely to let the truth flow. Alcohol slows down your decisions and thinking...therefore you don't think twice before you say something

I don't think people are more honest when they have been drinking. Just more obnoxious.

It could go either way. Since your X is married you can't be with him any more anyway.
