Bristol to London rail route is operated by First Great Western. www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk. They run to London Paddington from both Bristol Temple Meads station in the centre of Bristol and Bristol Parkway station on the outskirts of the city. Trains run every half hour from both stations to London (hourly on Sundays) and take 85 minutes from Bristol Parkway and 95 to 100 minutes from Bristol Temple Meads

Ignore the flying poster, Bristol does not have direct flights to London, the road or rail journey time makes air uncompetitive. And Bristol Airport is a pain to get to!
There are 4 trains per hour from Bristol to London Paddington (running alternativly from Parkway on the outskirts and from Temple Meads in the city centre) and the journey time is about 90 minutes. Advance fares start from about £5 single
There is also a slower route that takes about 3 hours and runs into London Waterloo, this route can be a lot cheaper (ie if you book online fares start at £1 each way!) but only has a couple of journeys per day.

Yes you can travel from Bristol Parkway in the North of Bristol or Temple Meads station. There are several ways to buy tickets and the best and cheapest is on line. If you go into Virgintrains.com and book well in advance, you can get some very reasonably priced tickets. Depending where in London you can get good connections at either reading or paddington to your final destination in London. It is also cheaper if you travel after peak times. Trains vary in times, but most take less than 2 hours. You can also pick up the London train sometimes from Bath and local stations on route to London. Hope this helps
