I dont want to pay an insane amount for ink ...unless its cheaper in the long run

Price the ink cartridges first. Then Choose a Make and Model. but before you buy, Google for:

Make Model Cost per page

The lower the cost per page , the better.

ONLY then, consider buying that printer.

I used to have Hewlett Packard. V expensive ink cartridges (very good printer). Now I have an Epsom - cheap generic cartridges. But I think in the end the HP ink was no more expensive, They lasted ages; it was a better printer as far as print quality was concerned.

Your best bet is to buy a bigger printer. Basically like you would for business purpose, the cat.s are larger and last longer. They may cost a little more but saves money in the long run.

dont pay extra for a printer with seperate color cartridges... they all run out of ink at the same time.
