Yes, I don't understand why are tran fats illegal, a "substance" that has been proven to cause cancer, and just unhealthy, and cigarettes which are permitted 600 chemicals/TOXINS, addictive properties, into something that has NO health benefits I know of. And don't give me the whole "support your local farmer" , they aren't farmers they're drug manufacturers, just like a poppy leaf can be turned into opium, or the coca leaf into cocaine, the process should stop at its most natural state, if at all, its worse then marijuana, there's no argueing that, so why don't we all just wake up and make sure this DRUG is put off the shelves for the next generation, Im 22 and want it illegal by the time I have a kid, its sickening. How many people have you known that smoked and suffer from cancer now, its killing the people dearest to our hearts.

Oh Gawd, YES!!! I hate second hand smoke, and I can't go anywhere nowadays when there isn't someone smoking in front of me. They have no etiquette when it comes to smoking. And they just flick their butts anywhere they want.

Yes, it should be illegal. I don't smoke (and never did) but I know smoking is bad for you. Smoking is bad for you as well as secondhand smoke and many good people die from it and it costs us more on health insurance rates because of the health problems caused by smokers. It smells so bad that I don't even want to go near it. I live in the United States in the state of Maine and there's no smoking in public places which I am glad. Smoking cigarettes inside not only can ruin people's health, the smoke also absorbs into everything including walls and any other stuff inside making it smell bad and get discolored. Cigarettes is also bad for the earth too causing the ozone layer to get slowly destroyed. Cigarettes should be illegal in the whole world, not just one country. Make cigarettes illegal before all beings are dead and the earth is completely destoryed.

If you are going to make cigarettes illegal, then alcohol, soda pop, lunch meat, and nearly everything else should be illegal also. Our food is preserved with chemicals, pesticides, and antibodies that are just as dangerous or in some cases more so than cigarettes.
I am an adult and a smoker and it should be my right to smoke if I please, if you chose not too then that is your right. A lot of blame is placed on cigarettes and second hand smoke. Yet some people that have never smoked or been around second hand smoke are developing cancer. Can someone explain this. Smoking is blamed for a lot of things that have not been proven.
If anything should be outlawed it should be alcohol. I have never heard of anyone smoking a cigarette and getting in a car and driving and killing someone because they could not handle the car.

I don't think they should be illegal. I don't know anybody who has died of lung cancer. Strike that -- I know two people who have died of lung cancer, but neither smoked, lived with smokers, or hung around with smokers. There are people who chain smoke for their entire lives and live into their 90's and 100's!
I have a friend in med school who has observed the lungs of many cadavers -- and guess what? Smokers and non-smokers have similar lungs! He said you can't even tell the difference! He said, however, there is a vast difference between city folk & country folk -- city folk have a lot of lung problems compared to country folk.
I think the tobacco industry is the scapegoat for the big time polluters in this country. What a ridiculous complaint -- "smokers are killing me with their 2nd hand smoke!" Give me a break! Do you ever drive a car? Do you ever go near a running car or any running gas or diesel engine? I think you would have much bigger fish to fry when it comes to people who drive cars and trucks. Consider this:
Who would you rather be?:
The person who spends 1 hour in a 20 ft. by 20 ft. room with 10 smokers puffing away, or...
The person who spends 10 minutes in a 20 ft. by 20 ft. room with a running gas motor.

While I do want cigarettes to be illegal... I also think making them illegal is the wrong move. Decades ago we made alcohol consumption illegal. Prohibition taught us that was the wrong course of action to take.
Also, as social pressure makes smokers feel like outcasts now, anyway... I do believe it's just a matter of time before the habit "burns itself out".

I think they should be illegal. Cigarettes are not much better than smoking crack or pot. Your basically killing yourself. I don't know why we haven't put a stop to this yet. I think it might be because the cigarette market makes so much money.

SMOKING TOBACCO SHOULD BE ILLEGAL ALONG WITH A LOT OF OTHER STUFF. SOMEONE I KNOW SPENDS EVERY PENNY ON CIGARETTES , THIS GUY HAS CHILDREN AND THE DEAR LITTLE ONES GO IN RAGS SO HE CAN PUFF ON THE MOST EXPENSIVE BUTTS. HE CONNED ME INTO DRIVING HIM TO THE TOBACCO SHOP THREE TIMES A DAY FOR BUTTS AND BOOZE SO I IMMEDIATELY PUT A SCREECHING HALT TO THAT. HE KNOWS BETTER NOW THAN TO ASK ME FOR A DRIVE ANYWHERE. HIS LICENSE WAS YANKED FOR DRIVING STEWED . ITS SO SAD SOME FREEDOMS POLLUTE EVERYONE. WE FINALLY HAVE LAWS AGAINST SMOKING IN DOORS IN MANY PLACES.WHEN I WAS YOUNG EVERYWHERE YOU WENT WAS BLUE WITH SMOKE, WHICH KILLED MILLIONS OF FOLKS.

You are so right. I wish cigarettes were illegal, then the rest of us who didn't start smoking wouldn't have to pay for someone else's addiction with OUR lung capacity. I purposely begin to hack whenever i pass someone smoking. I feel that it lets them know that they aren't only risking they're own lives.

I understand that this is America and we have freedom of speech, but when they take away our freedom of choice, that's not right. That's a freedom also. Little by little we are losing our freedom. Everybody is entitled to their opinion and that's mine. If they outlaw cigarette's, I'll start breaking the law for the first time in my life, and you can take that to the bank!
