I put a few flowers in a regular bottle of spring water. It died in less than 24 hours.

Makes you re-think the bottled water debate just a little?

Egads! My husband has convinced me to switch to purely glass bottles for any spring water or mineral. As a chemist, he told me a long time ago that he discovered plastifiers (which are carcinogenic) that had leeched into plastic bottles. Also even a small bit gets into glass bottles that have plastic lined caps. It's a problem here because the tap water is gross and we have a double filtration system on the whole houes. Those carbon filters really need to be changed every month or two. I am starting to become picky about bottled water too. I don't like the taste of the generic bottled water at Whole Foods and prefer to buy Pellegrino.

Dasani bottled water does have some sodium in. Others may as well as a mineral supplement -- trace amounts to us, but perhaps too much for your plants. I have, in the past, put Poland Spring water in my plants and haven't had a problem.

I noticed the same thing when I didn't want to waste some half drunk bottled water and decided to put it on my plants. I wonder if there is some sodium in bottled water that would cause this? Anyone?
