You grab their attention, just like when you poke someone in real life, just a little feature added to let people start conversations later on.

When you poke someone on Facebook, that person will see a message that says you poked them. Basically it's a way to make contact with someone. Some people use it as a sort of fun way to "bug" each other (by poking back and forth) and I think some people use it as a way to get the attention of someone they like.

Poking someone on facebook doesn't mean anything really. Its just a way of saying "hey." When you poke someone, that person recieves a notification saying that they were poked by you. They can chose to poke you back or just ignore it.

It means that whenever the person you poked logs in he/she will receive at message on the top left corner of the screen saying "(Insert Name Here) has poked you!" He or she then can choose to poke back, or close. Poking is usually just to get a person's attention if you need it.

A poke is a way to interact with your friends on Facebook.
When you poke someone, a poke icon will appear on his or her Home page with the option to "Remove Poke" or "Poke Back." the whole point of the poke option is that it is seemingly pointless! That said most people tend to use it either for fun or for online flirting.

It's just a poke. Like if you go up to someone and poke them to get their attention. Or, sometimes, it can be just a humourous thing. Me and my friends have 'poke wars,' where we keep poking back and forth and the first one to stop poking loses.

It's the same as just saying "hey!" so they know you were thinking of them even if you really had nothing to say.
Poke!

It's just like walking up to a friend in real life and poking them. It is to garner attention and be all "hey there!". It's not that deep or involved.

My friend said it meant they want to have sex with you, but I think it means they're poking you!

Its just a way to get their attention. If u add the application superpoke you can do all sorts of stuff like bite, pinch, kiss, lick, karate chop, drop kick. Its just for fun. It doesn't mean anything
