I go the European traditional route every year. I have a huge assortment of hand made, mouth blown ornaments and really like the old fashioned look. Although I found gold colored tinsel to use this year instead of the usual silver you often find.

I'm going for the gold & maybe purple or red. I have seen the new white & black w/silver tree decorations & I think they are beautiful! It looks very elegant, but I have to be all about color because I have kids that go crazy for the color lights. lol

We always go traditional. Fake tree(very good one though), an eclectic array of decorations, white lights, no tinsel. Looks beautiful every year and the children have a ball decorating it.

the look we go for every year. we have our home made ornaments that we made when we were little and we have clear lights to stick inside the branches of the tree and colored lights to go outside the tree resting on the branches. sure our tree doesnt look elegant but it certainly looks like a tree that family put together.
