If you have switched off your computer using the start menu. If it seems like it is off, no lights or such, and then pressing a key switches it on; then it is set to switch the computer on by a keypress in the BIOS. A little like stand by, but a lower power version of it.

most people tend to keep there computers on as a feature in computers they have a "stand-by" or sleep mode if you would like to call it. it is when the monitor goes off but the tower is still on. part of that feature to turn you computer back on to awake mode is to move the mouse or touch any button on the key board. it is a comon thing to do this and is normal. if you dont like it doing this because you touch your key-board then unplug you key board from your tower when ever or you can just turn you monitor off. that way the screen being on doesnt bother you
