As was stated it wasn't the Phillies it was the Philadelphia Athletics. And to correct Gauri, the Athletics were in Philly from 1901-1954, then went to Kansas City from 1955-1967, and have been in Oakland since 1968.

Also, the Athletics appeared in the World Series in 1905 (L), 1910-11 (W), 1913 (W), 1914-15 (L), 1929-30 (W), and 1931 (L) while in Philly. They never made it to the series while in KC, but while in Oakland they won 3 straight (1972-74), 1988 (L), 1989 (W), 1990 (L).

It wasn't the Phillies. It was the Philadelphia Athletics, the American League team that is now the Oakland As.

The Philadelphia Phillies used to be the Philadelphia Athletics and now it's the Okland Athletics.

Yeah and the Philadelphia Athletics were quite the powerhouse, they have numerous world championships. Still, they don't get the talk of the Brooklyn Dodgers or New York Giants. Go figure.
