How about a round of applause (or at least a star) for Paula Radcliffe who won the New York marathon today, just 10 months after giving birth? Is she not an inspiration to us all?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/athletics/7077867.stm

Britain's Paula Radcliffe held off Gete Wami in a thrilling sprint finish to win her second New York Marathon.

Radcliffe twice tried and failed to shake off the Ethiopian as the race reached its climax, and her great rival briefly threatened to snatch victory.

But the 2004 winner put in a final burst to leave Wami behind and broke the tape in 2hrs 23 mins and 9 secs.

She told BBC Sport: "I've had years of her outsprinting me and I wasn't going to let it happen again."

i watched the marathon today (still putting off my PE coursework lol) and i can say that it was a fantastic event. I am thoroughly impressed with Paula Radcliffes performance and considering she had a baby so recently, WOW!

I am very impressed (and jealous too. wish i could do that!)

She did very well, especially remembering to go to the loo first.

Funny that, she wins loads of marathons, has kids, wins more marathons, and I remember a picture of her peeing down a drain.
