Do you make excuses like they can't help how they were brought up? Because I don't really think that's an excuse once we get older we KNOW what is right and wrong.
What are your thoughts?

I don't make excuses for them. I feel sorry for them because there are SO many amazing people they are going to miss out on because of their own prejudices.

A child cannot help what they are taught.

But when people become adults they DO have an opportunity to search for the truth. And that means that they have an opportunity to explore, question, and make up their own minds. And they have an opportunity to develope a taste for a subject or a thirst for knowledge. Some people never acquire that because they are lazy, or they just do not want to. Usually this is because they are not on the receiving end of bigotry or some hardship. Nor have they known or cared for someone who has.

If anyone closes themselves off, they will remain isolated. And they will miss out on all that diversity has to offer.

Racism is riddled with assumptions that stems from stereotypes and fears of people that are different, based on something as silly as the color of someones skin. It's the same as bigotry.

You can be tolerant of a "person" that you do not agree with by simply removing yourself from their presence. If nobody wants to participate in their hate, then they have brought that upon themselves, and they will find themselves miserable, lonely, and angry. But you do NOT have to be tolerant of their warped ideas. That makes you an enabler and perpetuates the ignorance and hate that racism thrives on. Never be a part of that. If you can't make a breakthrough and help them learn then do not subject yourself to their negativity.

People should be tolerated. Actions and thoughts do not have to be. The mindset of a racist should NEVER be tolerated or nurtured. A racist might try to be clever in arguing that you are intolerant of them. No. You are intolerant of their intolerance. That means that you are intolerant of their behavior and ideas, while they are intolerant of a person's flesh and blood. HUGE difference.

Believe it or not in some racist people it is ingrained so much that it like a religion for them.
They actually believe all the propaganda about white supremacy, and on the other end it is the same for the Blacks racists'. They had been told and seen it all their lives. That's a very hard lesson to unlearn.

People fail to realize that racism comes in many forms. Not just to hate people for the color of their skin, but also for there religion and also their culture. Some hate people b/c of the country they are from. I DO NOT condone racism in any form or fashion and people making excuses as to why they are, is just a form of intellectual ignorance and are just plain STUPID.

I am not tolerant but I do listen to their point of view too and try to make them realize, not that I always succeed.
I think, in most of the cases, it is their sense of insecurity (economical factors) and not the superiority complex that drives them to behave this way. Of course, majority-ism is also is a factor.

I agree with you. People can't blame their mistakes on their parents or the way they were brought up as kids. Grown ups can change the way they are towards other people. They can make up their own minds.

No I'm not! But I can understand the way they feel on both sides. I really stick up for the blacks, but I'll be damned if one of them don't unfairly attack the whites, and there I am defending my race. Or the reverse, white unfairly attack the blacks, and I'm raising hell against them. Where will it ever end!!!!!!!!!!
